Sharpen your edge on interviewing, interrogation and detecting deception with this 3-Day training course designed to provide patrol officers and new detectives with a foundation of understanding as well as practical skill enhancement relating to conducting effective interviews & interrogations, detecting deception, improving witness memory and statement analysis techniques. The foundations of effective communication will be covered such as identifying behavior baselines, establishing rapport and maintaining control during interviews. Special issues with victims and witnesses will be addressed as well. Students will improve their ability to conduct effective interviews and interrogations, learn techniques to enhance victim and witness memory as well as employ strategies of statement analysis to distinguish between truthfulness and deception within written and oral communication. Students will be taught principles of persuasion & influence and how they apply within the context of investigative interviews and criminal interrogations. Current research on detecting deception will also be covered providing students with the latest scientific information on what works and what doesn't when trying to identify whether or not someone is lying.
