This ensures our training curriculum is not some rehashed training program, it is state-of-the-art in both the practical application and academic foundation. • Investigative Statement Analysis; Truth through what they S.A.I.D. is a 3-Day intensive training course where investigators learn the skills to analyze what people say whether it is in written statements, orally during interviews and interrogations, 911 calls, transcripts, notes, memos or other forms of communication. Investigators will gain a tactical advantage of distinguishing between truth and lies, how to prioritize interviews, be able to gather new information and insight and obtain the truth from investigative inquires. This is a hands-on course involving individual and group exercises on real cases and statements.
• Statement Analysis for Patrol & First Responders is a 1-Day program designed to provide the initial responders to incidents with the ability gather information from people in an accurate manner and to assess people's language to help them distinguish between truthfulness and deception, a critical skill for patrol officers. The skills learned by the officers will improve their investigations and their assessment of peoples credibility as well as preserving the initial information from victims, witnesses and suspects to allow for effective follow-up by detectives if the cases is passed on.
• Cognitive Interviewing is the most effective and highly researched method of investigative interviewing and has shown in the laboratory as well as in the field that by applying these principles investigators will gather significantly more relevant information from the people they interview. It provides the investigator with the skills to enhance the memory and recall of victims and witnesses by understanding the strengths and weaknesses of human memory, and how to to minimize the weaknesses and maximize the strengths. This course is taught in 1 to 3-Day formats.
• Tactical Interviewing & Detecting Deception is a 3-Day training program designed for patrol officers and new detectives to provide them with a foundation of understanding as well as practical skill enhancement relating to conducting effective interviews & interrogations, detecting deception, improving witness memory and statement analysis techniques. Students will improve their ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people and personalities, build and maintain rapport, conduct effective interviews and interrogations, employ questioning strategies to enhance victim and witness memory, utilize principles of statement analysis to distinguish between truthfulness and deception in language, distinguish between what works and what doesn't in detecting deception, utilize principles of persuasion and influence during interviews along with other interview and interrogation tactics and strategies.
• Micro Expressions and Emotions During Interviews is a 1-Day training course designed to familiarize police detectives and investigators with current research on emotions, micro expressions and facial expressions when communicating with people. Investigators will better understand what these signals may mean and how to use the information during investigative interviews and criminal interrogations. Research has shown that there are seven universal expressions of emotion occurring during true/felt emotions which the astute investigator may be able to identify during interviews or interrogations. When people lie it is often accompanied with changes in their expressions of emotion through simulating (expressing an un-felt emotion), masking (replacing a felt emotion with a false expression), or neutralizing (inhibiting a true emotion by appearing neutral). The exhibited emotions and micro expressions are often subconscious and difficult for people to hide, but when identified through training, this added knowledge gained by the investigator is able to provide additional insight to help focus questioning and to assist with assessing the credibility of what the individual is saying, and to identify any conflicts or mixed messages in what the individual is conveying.
• Understanding and Interviewing Sexual Deviancyis a 3-day training program developed to aid interviewers in the understanding of sexual behavior. The course will assist the interviewer in understanding the different types of sexual paraphilias and typologies of a sex offender. This training will also assist the interviewer in understanding what sexual deviance is as well as how deviant behavior begins, including why individuals become involved in sexual deviance and who is at risk of becoming a potential victim.Through this training, students will be exposed to the current research which is now being conducted, and discuss current treatment programs that work for sex offenders, and how these treatment programs work in conjunction wtih probation/parole agencies in a attempt to better monitor and control sexual deviant behavior. Key areas of training include; types of denial, compulsive sexual behaviors, sexual paraphilial, offender terminology, five stages of successful interviews, analytical discourse, personality traits and psychological defense mechanisms.
